I've spent the last three years as a product designer, sharpening my skills in-house at high-growth, fast-paced startups. Growing up, every hobby of mine has been rooted in self-expression and creativity - I took up drawing, painting, knitting, crocheting, ceramics... if you name it, I've probably tried it. I believe my love for the process of creating led me to find purpose in design.
In my last year of pursuing my graphic design degree, my school was offering its very first UX design course, which I curiously decided to enroll in. I had little knowledge of what “user experience” or “product design” was then - but this one class changed my perspective on what I wanted to pursue. I love visual arts, but I also had a strong desire to understand people, their hows, and whys. I saw that approaching creative deliverables with a UX focus allowed me to create meaningful, user-centered designs that have a direct positive impact on people's lives. Instead of designing something that only looks beautiful, I now have the opportunity to create products that help make people's lives easier.
When I'm not immersed in a Figma file, you can find me crocheting a new outfit or hanging out with my cat, Marley. If I’m not at home, I'm most likely on my latest travel adventure :)
Create responsible, inclusive designs that empowers others and addresses the diversity of people's needs.
Iterate, iterate, iterate. There is always something we can learn about the users to serve them better.
Both are essential elements that should be used together to create meaningful designs that meet user needs.
